- ➤ The Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport reached an 18-year high with 30,686 passengers in 2025—spurred by business and leisure visitors to the Northwoods. Officials say they will add more daily flights in 2026 to meet the growing demand. WSAW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Wisconsin health officials announced that children will continue receiving the current vaccine schedule despite recent federal modifications, citing insufficient evidence to justify any changes. The department said European models do not match U.S. needs (differences in population and healthcare systems). WSAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ In local high school sports on Thursday night, D.C. Everest hockey beat East Merrill United 6-1, Rhinelander boys basketball won 72-28 and Edgar girls basketball won 49-38. WSAW
- ➤ Wisconsin native Jordan Stolz, a 21-year-old speedskater favored to win multiple medals, will compete in five events at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics starting Feb. 7 at the Milano Speed Skating Stadium near Rho — his races will cover distances from 500 to 1,500 meters. WSAW
