- ➤ Goodwill North Central Wisconsin is asking residents to donate unwanted items during Get Organized Month to reduce clutter and support job programs. Donation centers open at 8AM daily. WAOW
- ➤ Local pastor Yauo Yang at The Cross Church in Schofield will host special worship services for adults with special needs on the third Sunday of each month through March on Grand Avenue (partnering with SeKara for accessibility). The sessions feature worship, arts and crafts, birthday celebrations, and snacks. WSAW
- ➤ The Wisconsin Lions Foundation collects deer hides statewide to fund free summer camp programs for adults and youth with disabilities; drop-offs are available at 218 spots until Jan. 16. Camp Director Andrea Yenter said the camp in Rosholt serves about 1,000 people annually. WSAW
- ➤ Good News Project Inc. in Marathon Co. received nearly $64K from CoVantage Cares Foundation’s 10th annual Giving Tuesday campaign that ran Dec. 2 to Dec. 16; the campaign raised $502,900 for 12 local nonprofits (with a matching program up to $200K) in communities served by CoVantage Credit Union. - ➤ Rock Fest announced its 2026 music festival lineup and will host a three-day music and camping event near Cadott from July 16-18. Headlining acts include Limp Bizkit, Gojira, and The Offspring while three-day ticket holders get a bonus event on July 15. WSAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SAMHSA cut $2 billion in grants this morning for mental health and overdose prevention, affecting local programs that serve tribal communities and support school-based mental wellness. These funding cuts may lead to immediate disruptions in services for children and other high-risk groups in our state. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ The Wisconsin Assembly passed Assembly Bill 362 on Tuesday, Jan. 13, which will require schools to have a written plan for cardiac emergencies on campus and at school events (detailing roles for who calls 911, starts CPR, and fetches the AED). The bill now awaits Senate approval before heading to the governor. WSAW

- ➤ After two years of virtual races due to low snow, MECCA Winterfest will hold an in-person ski race this Saturday in Mercer — expecting about 60 skiers — with virtual registration also available. WAOW
- ➤ Korz Loken, Wisconsin's top recruit, committed to the Badgers at the Navy All-American Bowl in Iola-Scandinavia this past weekend. He said he chose to stay home and thanked local coaches — a nod to the community's support. WAOW
