- ➤ Doctors at Marshfield Clinic in Weston noted colorectal cancer deaths increased 1% per year since 2005, with many cases among younger adults under 50 presenting with advanced symptoms. They advise timely screenings, especially when signs like abdominal pain or weight loss appear (screening is recommended from age 45). WSAW
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Beacon Resources and the Dwight and Linda Davis Foundation will build Grant Place, a 55+ complex with 70 apartments and 24 assisted living units at Grant and First near Woodson YMCA. The project is set for Planning Commission review on Feb. 18 to ease the senior housing shortage. WSAW

- ➤ USA Powerlifting Wisconsin State Championships come to Rothschild on Jan. 31 at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center, where competitors will perform squat, bench press and deadlift (weigh-ins begin at 7 a.m.). Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Tuesday, Neillsville boys edged Colby 56-54 in a tight road game and Chequamegon beat Abbotsford 72-71 in overtime to boost their conference records; Neillsville plays Columbus Catholic on Thursday while Chequamegon faces Prentice on Friday. WSAW
