BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chick-fil-A in Rib Mountain will open on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 a.m. The restaurant will offer a free entree for guests in cow-spot attire and is accepting team member applications (text CFARIBMT to 31063) for 80 to 120 positions.  WAOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tonight, residents will have the chance to share opinions on future uses for a long-vacant 6-acre property at 1300 Cleveland Avenue behind St-Vincent DePaul, while developers have proposed a seven-story, 70-unit building with 24 assisted living units near The Landing and Woodson YMCA.  WAOW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rising health insurance costs that increased 26% have led more people to seek care at the Wausau Free Clinic, which treated 2,000 patients last year (its workload is expected to grow). The clinic serves patients from across northern Wisconsin and needs extra volunteers.  WAOW
  • Over 400 people will join the Miracles Convention at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center through Feb. 1; the four-day event features skiing, tubing, laser tag + workshops that celebrate recovery and offer support to those affected.  WSAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • The hockey co-op, which has united Merrill and Wausau East players since the 2016-17 season, will dissolve next season as Merrill will field its own team while Wausau East’s plans remain unknown.  WSAW
  • At D.C. Everest, the boys won 70-52 over Wausau West while Mosinee kept a flawless conference record with a 70-49 win over Lakeland on Friday; the Northland Lutheran girls beat Port Edwards 46-29 in Kronenwetter and will face Iola-Scandinavia on Tuesday.  WSAW
