CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ D.C. Everest Dance Team earned second place in the pom category at a state competition last weekend. The team left at 10:30 a.m. on January 2 (celebrated by family and fans) and now prepares for an end-of-year show on Feb. 21 at D.C. Everest Senior High. WAOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dylan Alwin’s proposal to run Riverlife Park’s ice cream stand was approved by the Parks and Recreation Committee on Feb. 2. The Common Council will review it on Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at 407 Grant St, and if approved, it will open in May with a full menu offering. Wausau Daily Herald
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Officials from the Wisconsin DHS and local fire departments outlined food and fire safety tips ahead of Super Bowl 60, advising residents to wash hands, keep raw foods separate, use a thermometer, and refrigerate food promptly. Local fire departments also stressed careful cooking and checking heating sources to prevent fires. WSAW

- ➤ Arnie Herber, West High's celebrated multi-sport athlete, led his basketball team to a .714 record in spring, clinched a last-minute football win in a key rivalry, and broke Valley conference track records—leaving a lasting mark on local high school sports. Wausau Times
