- ➤ Wausau Police Department returns the Special Olympics Polar Plunge today at Thom Field starting at 10 a.m. Participants will use a mobile plunge unit from Minnesota (a trial for a potential permanent purchase) with local students joining the event. WSAW
- ➤ Texas Roadhouse in Rib Mountain donated $1540 worth of gift cards to Wausau American Legion Post 10 on Feb. 5, helping veterans access meals via its Meals to Go program. This marks the tenth consecutive year of support for local veterans. Wausau Times
- ➤ The Wausau Area Builders Association has announced the 2026 Home Show set for Feb. 21-22 at the Central Wisconsin Convention & Expo Center in Rothschild; visitors will explore home ideas, meet local experts, and enjoy demos & a Home Depot Kids Workshop. Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ Mid-State Technical College was named a finalist for the AACC Awards of Excellence for its AMETA Center partnership on Feb. 18, recognizing a $23 million fundraising campaign with more than 300 local partners; winners will be announced during the AACC conference in Seattle from Apr. 10-14. - ➤ Rib Lake Middle and High School opened its new gym Wednesday evening as the second phase connects the middle and high school for easier indoor access; the high school men’s basketball team broke in while the women’s team will play later this week. WAOW
- ➤ The Conservatory presents interactive musical storytime sessions for nearly 200 children, teaching music and social skills. The program remains free with community support ahead of its Enchanted Garden Fundraising Gala plus tickets on sale until Feb. 23, with the event set for Saturday, March 7 at the Wausau Country Club. - ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Revenue today launched an online resource for first-time tax filers, offering step-by-step filing guides, plain-language definitions, and videos to help students, recent graduates, independent contractors, and new residents navigate the tax process and use free filing options through WisTax. - ➤ Attorney General Josh Kaul announced a $350,000 settlement with Crystal Finishing Systems, Inc. resolving alleged air pollution violations at its facilities in Schofield and Mosinee today. WSAW
- ➤ Marathon County invites public input on proposals to redevelop the seven-building UWSP campus, which housed classes since the 1960s, as staff shift to NTC’s facility. A Meet&Greet will be held tomorrow at the Lake View Conference Center (1000 Lake View Drive) and proposals are due by March 31. WAOW

- ➤ Lincoln County health officials warn that conditions have boosted the risk of Blastomycosis, a fungal infection contracted from disturbing soil near Merrill. Residents with persistent flu-like symptoms should seek care early (treatment requires an antifungal), as prompt diagnosis is key. WSAW
