BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ahlstrom announced Wednesday plans to idle parts of its Mosinee facility, closing the pulp mill and M3 paper machine on June 30 and idling the M2 machine on September 30. Operations for M1 and M4 will continue at the site while upgrades are planned.  WAOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The D.C. Everest IMAGINE event returns March 3 from 5-7 p.m. at the Greenheck Turner Community Center Field House Gyms and Senior High — offering student art shows, live performances, and interactive club activities for families.  Wausau Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A local volunteer fire department faces 16 violations flagged by the Department of Safety and Professional Services, leading Milladore and Sherry to end their partnerships. Milladore will hold an informational meeting at 6 p.m. today — no decisions will be made at the meeting.  WAOW
  • The City of Wausau is seeking sponsors until March 15 to expand its bikeshare program by adding new bikes and stations. Business and health care groups may have their branding on the equipment (which supports healthier transportation) if they join the effort.  Wausau Daily Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Washington Commanders are releasing Amherst native Tyler Biadasz, their starting center who helped the team reach the NFC Championship Game two seasons ago, reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport on Friday, Feb. 27. Biadasz was drafted from Wisconsin in 2020 and has played in the NFL for six seasons.  WSAW
