CULTURE NEWS

  • Wausau Events announced the 35th Annual Big Bull Falls Blues Fest set for Friday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 22 at Fern Island Park in Wausau, featuring Howard 'Guitar' Luedtke & Blue Max, Raine Stern Band & Ally Venable; VIP tickets are expected to sell out.  WSAW

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fuel prices are expected to rise as refineries begin producing summer-blend gasoline and travel increases next month, although Wisconsin averages $2.68 per gallon & Marathon County drivers may pay around $2.70 per gallon.  WSAW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two D.C. Everest juniors will travel to Normandy, France in June 2026 to perform with the All-American D-Day Band and visit Washington, D.C. in early June (for uniform fittings and a training session) to prepare for the event.  WSAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wisconsin nurses and lawmakers reintroduced the Nurse Staffing and Patient Protection Act, which would require hospitals to form nurse staffing committees to set minimum ratios (a measure aimed at bolstering patient care and easing burnout). Lawmakers will seek a committee hearing soon to advance the proposal.  WSAW
  • The Wisconsin Department of Justice announced a $100 million settlement with Walmart for misrepresenting driver tips, which provided over ($600,000) for local drivers through its Spark Driver program (the app for grocery deliveries). Walmart must now submit annual pay reports for 10 years and stop altering orders after acceptance.  Wausau Daily Herald

  • WIAA Wrestling Day 1 showcased local teams competing on Feb 27, 2026 — the matches highlighted strong performances as athletes advanced through several weight classes.  WAOW
