ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices at local stations reached $3.09 per gallon on Tuesday—30 cents higher than last week—as seasonal refinery changes and international supply concerns drove the increase. WSAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wisconsin lawmakers proposed a bell-to-bell cellphone ban in schools to help students focus, with the full rule set to begin July 1, 2027 (replacing current policies during class). Lawmakers believe removing phones will boost academic performance. WSAW
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the aerator on Eau Pleine Reservoir near Big Eau Pleine County Park begins operating to test new components, creating unsafe ice conditions and open water areas. Officials urge fishermen, snowmobilers and others to obey barriers and avoid the aeration zone. WSAW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Fayron Epps of AlzInColor said dementia risk is higher among Black and Hispanic communities in Wisconsin, with Black individuals twice and Latinos 1.5 times as likely to develop Alzheimer’s than white individuals. Early talks on managing health may help delay up to 45% of dementia cases. WSAW
- ➤ Updated urgent and walk-in care hours are now available in central Wisconsin. Marshfield Clinic relocated its urgent care to a new hospital in Wisconsin Rapids on March 1, and Aspirus clinics in Wausau, Plover, Rhinelander, and Weston offer walk-in services with extended weekend hours. - ➤ Marshfield Clinic will offer free suicide prevention trainings for community members, including farmers, first responders and veterans. The sessions run from March 23-27 in Marshfield, Minocqua, Auburndale and Wausau (using QPR and CALM formats) with registration available via email or phone. WSAW

- ➤ Rib Lake advanced in boys’ basketball postseason Tuesday night by beating Greenwood/Granton 74 to 43 with senior Jed Henderson passing 1,000 points—Rib Lake will face Mellen Friday. Prentice won with a 99 to 13 score over Mercer and will host Flambeau Friday. WSAW
