- ➤ Wausau native filmmaker Michael Sajbel shares his memoir, I Think I’m Goin’ Back, recounting his small-town roots, and he will host a free book signing on March 13 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Janke Book Store at 505 N. Third St.+ the event is open to the public. Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ Since March 4, the Eau Pleine Reservoir aerator has operated to test new parts, creating unsafe ice near Big Eau Pleine County Park. Officials urge fishermen, snowmobilers and other ice travelers to obey rope barriers, flags and warning signs (for safety). Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ A $167,000 jackpot-winning Badger 5 lottery ticket sold Monday, March 2 at the R-Store on Hwy XX in Rothschild is the largest win at the gas station — it marks one of 10 jackpots awarded in 2026. WSAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Weston local officials held their first informational meeting to discuss the referendum aimed at adding six firefighters and paramedics for SAFER (South Area Fire and Emergency Response). They will host additional sessions on March 19, March 31, and April 2 ahead of the April vote. WAOW
- ➤ Gov. Evers confirmed Wisconsin National Guard troops are deployed in the Middle East, with some joining Operation Epic Fury, and he urged Wisconsinites to keep them in their prayers (troop details were not disclosed). WSAW
- ➤ Attorney General Kaul has joined a coalition to oppose a proposed federal rule that would cap student loans for graduate healthcare students (limiting annual borrowing to $20,500 and total to $100,000, while higher limits apply for professional degrees), arguing the measure could harm the healthcare workforce.
