COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ United Way of Marathon County's Mobile Community Closet will set up shop at Community Partners Campus (360 Grand Ave) on Thursday, Mar. 12 from noon to 3 p.m., offering free clothing for all family members to pick up during the event. No registration is needed. WSAW
- ➤ Miss Wausau Area is seeking candidates for its Nov. 7 competition at the UW Center for Civic Engagement; the pageant offers over $10,000 in scholarships and is accepting applications for the Little Sisters program (for girls aged 5 to 13) to perform on stage. Wausau Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wausau manufacturer Linetec settled a $250K case for air pollution control violations, per Attorney General Josh Kaul’s announcement, with a court order signed on March 4 (in Marathon County). WAOW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Marathon County Health Department's February inspections found that Oishii Ramen on N. Second St. left raw diced beef out overnight to thaw — a food safety slip that officials say must be corrected. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ State data show that in 2025 only 67 percent of Wisconsin 2-year-olds were up to date on seven recommended vaccines, which is down from 69 percent last year and equates to about 1,200 fewer children vaccinated on time. Health officials say the trend continues to raise concerns about child safety. Wausau Daily Herald
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Three local teams will compete in the 50th WIAA Girls State Basketball Tournament — held at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Mosinee Indians will face Oostburg Flying Dutchmen at 1:30 Thursday, Neillsville Warriors will play Lomira Lions at 6:30 Thursday, and Pacelli Cardinals will tip off at 10:30 Friday. WAOW
- ➤ Granite Peak will offer a new platinum pass with Ikon add-ons for the 2026-27 season—broadening family ski trips. Pass packages will go on sale March 12 following a partnership announcement with Midwest Family Ski Resorts. WAOW
