CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The town of Milladore treasurer—Kenneth Manlick—was charged with misconduct in office and theft in a business setting after an audit found $63,000 missing over eight years. He agreed to repay the money and his first court appearance is set for April 28. WSAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wausau students launched the Period Project to bring free pads and tampons to school bathrooms after a survey showed many missed class because of a lack of supplies—teacher Patty Zemke said outdated products forced a change—and a $10,000 grant will expand the program to every school in Marathon County. Supplies are slowly being distributed, and students say the free products help them manage their periods at school. WSAW

- ➤ A lottery player who purchased a Badger 5 ticket at the Walmart Supercenter (250 Crossroads Drive in Plover) for the March 8 drawing won $21,000, and Wisconsin Lottery officials confirmed the ticket was bought last week. Wausau Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Voters in Wausau and across Wisconsin are set to vote on April 1st in the 2025 Spring General Election, which features statewide contests for a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat and Superintendent of Public Instruction along with local races. Absentee ballots can be requested starting March 18th until March 27th and in-person voting is available until March 30th — ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day. WAOW

- ➤ Mental health experts warn that self-harm in kids aged 10-19 may increase after spring break, as the Wisconsin Department of Health Services noted a rise in emergency room visits in recent months.
