- ➤ Malarkey’s Pub in downtown celebrated its final St. Patrick’s Day as it closes this week to rebrand as Faraway Place. The new bar will serve locally sourced smash-burgers + host live music, with rebranding starting Saturday and plans to open before April. WSAW

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wausau broke two snowfall records during a nearly 36-hour storm from March 14 to 16, setting a single-storm record at 30.9 inches and a 24-hour record at 23.4 inches. A later system delivered light snow on March 17 and slowed commutes before temperatures warmed into the mid-30s today. Wausau Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Senate passed a $133 million PFAS cleanup package Tuesday and sent it to Gov. Tony Evers for approval. The plan aims to help communities including Wausau with testing, grants, and well replacements after years of debate. WAOW
- ➤ More than 2 feet of snow fell in under 48 hours, and city crews are working 16-hour shifts on Grand Avenue where removal will take two days. Crews are resting until more snow falls, so residents should expect messy commutes today & plan for delays. WSAW
- ➤ The Wausau Fire Department is asking residents to clear snow from fire hydrants, driveways, and exhaust vents after heavy snowfall so emergency crews can reach water quickly. Firefighter paramedic Jared Jacobs recommended clearing three to four feet of snow (the required distance) to keep homes safe. WSAW
