  • Nine Marathon County residents experienced a hands-on look at firefighting during the Citizens Academy held Saturday at SAFER Station 2 (South Area Fire and Emergency Response District) in Weston. The event featured presentations, truck rides, and extraction demonstrations to build trust between firefighters and the community.  WSAW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Grand Theater will host Safe Driving: Choices That Save Lives on April 13 at 6 p.m. in Wausau to teach teen + new drivers to avoid distracted and impaired driving. Families can RSVP for this free event featuring local EMS, police and trauma experts sharing safe habits.  WSAW

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Wausau can prepare for storm season by drawing up home floor plans, identifying safe zones, and building a 72-hour emergency kit with water, food, batteries, and first-aid supplies. They should trim branches, check roofs and gutters, and plan utility shut-offs (according to state emergency management) for extra safety.  WSAW
