  • The Lounge Wausau closed its doors for good on Monday—owners said health issues kept them from running all of their companies and they thanked staff and customers for their support.  WAOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wausau School District voters will see a five-year referendum for $40 million on the April 1 ballot to address a $3.7 million budget deficit for the 2025-26 school year. Officials say the measure would maintain the current mill rate—thanks to prior debt prepayment—and funds would support programs, staff, and facility upgrades.  Wausau Daily Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In Wausau, heavy wet snow fell on Sunday and left sidewalks, driveways, and roads covered while residents worked to clear paths and help each other. Some locals — including school staff on spring break — hope the snow will melt soon so they can enjoy warmer weather.  WSAW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Marathon County Health Department inspections in February uncovered a range of health violations at local food establishments—issues included improperly cooked poultry, unauthorized pet dogs in food prep areas, and other sanitation lapses, with some problems corrected during inspection while others await further action.  Wausau Daily Herald
  • Northstar Restorations in Wausau will host a blood drive Friday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — donors will get a ten-dollar Amazon gift card, and co-owner Jay Cricks, who nearly died in a car accident 30 years ago, will lead the event to give back after his own close call.  WAOW
