ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities responded after a call at 8:45 a.m. yesterday about a man in the Wisconsin River near Oriole Lane and Pintail Lane in Rib Mountain—an airboat was requested to assist his rescue.  WSAW

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Chocolate Shop in Wausau now sells the trending Dubai bar filled with pistachio butter at $26.95 for a half-pound bar or $7.95 for two minis. The dessert takes several days to make, and the shop is receiving a strong response with pre-orders available—customers praise the treat even if they typically do not like pistachios.  WSAW

CRIME NEWS

  • Wausau Police investigated a swatting incident at Horace Mann Middle School in December that forced an evacuation after prank calls were received and a 20-year-old Texas man named Landon Tettleton was arrested in Granbury on December 12th, 2024 for similar calls—he is now in custody.  WSAW
  • Between March 12 and March 15, three burglaries occurred in rural Portage County—two in Hull and one in Dewey—where a change jar, $3,000 in cash and a Glock handgun were stolen; the sheriff’s office is investigating the incidents and will increase patrols while asking anyone with camera footage to come forward.  WSAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Candidates for Village President in Weston are sharing their plans as the April 1 election nears — Mark Maloney emphasized his decades of service while challenger Jim Pinsonneault promised clearer spending and more efficient use of resources. Both plan to work with neighboring towns to cut service costs and manage the village's growing challenges.  WSAW
  • Attorney General Josh Kaul urged consumers to check if they are eligible for compensation as Wisconsin and 50 states seek approval for a $39.1 million settlement with Apotex over allegations of a conspiracy to inflate generic drug prices—if you purchased a generic drug between 2010 and 2018, you may be eligible.  WSAW
  • Marathon County has consolidated several departments into a new building at 1100 Lake View Dr. to reduce maintenance costs and foster closer teamwork — the Aging and Disabilities Resource Center is already in place and the Veteran Services Office will move next week.  WSAW
