- ➤ CASA of Marathon County will host its annual Blueprint of Hope Gala on April 23 at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art to raise funds for volunteer advocates for foster children. Keynote speaker Gaelin Elmore (a former foster youth) will speak during the cocktail reception and live auction. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Marathon County Public Library will host a silent book club for adults on April 6 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at its Wausau Headquarters (300 N. First St.), offering a quiet space to read at any time during the event. Wausau Daily Herald
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Daryl Davis, a blues musician who fights racism, will speak at A Walk in Their Shoes on Thursday, April 23 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at D.C. Everest Senior High Auditorium (6500 Alderson St, Schofield), sharing how his talks helped change minds while performing with local choirs. WSAW
- ➤ Wausau community members will celebrate 50 years of Hmong contributions at the *Hmong 50 Year Celebration* on Saturday, April 4 at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center. The free event features keynote speakers, cultural performances, a business expo, historical reflections and an awards banquet. WSAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ During spring break, students from Almond and Bancroft completed a five-day tractor and farm safety course at the Food and Farm Exploration Center to learn proper inspection and boarding techniques plus all eight students passed the test and earned their certifications. An additional session is scheduled for June. WSAW
- ➤ Children's Imaginarium received a $50,000 T-Mobile grant to create a STEM learning space; selected as one of 25 winners, the museum will work with Lab Midwest to install equipment for career exploration in healthcare & construction, trades, and transport, with the space set to open in about 6 months.
