- ➤ The Boys and Girls Club in Wausau extended its spring break hours, having opened on Monday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to offer club members free activities including swimming, laser tag, and field trips, with breakfast and lunch provided. WSAW
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire destroyed a shed used for maple syrup production on Sunday night in Town of Pine River at W4116 State Road 64; firefighters brought the blaze under control and no injuries were reported. WAOW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Marathon County Public Library is hosting free book clubs this April (featuring titles like 'The Life We Bury' and 'Project Hail Mary') at local branches in Marathon City, Edgar, Hatley, Athens, Spencer, Mosinee, Stratford, Rothschild, and Wausau. - ➤ Marathon County Public Library and Extension Marathon County are hosting free beginner-friendly gardening classes for adults in the library conference room at 300 First St. The four-week course begins Thursday, Apr. 9 with sessions at 1:30-3 p.m. + 5:30-7 p.m. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Marathon County Public Library is hosting free April story times for children and families at multiple branches, including the Wausau location that holds 'Tales for Tots' every Monday at 10 a.m. — Sessions feature interactive storytelling, crafts, songs and games and require no registration. - ➤ Students from Wausau West High School's Publications Lab won eight awards at the Wisconsin Newspaper Association banquet in Madison on Tuesday, March 31 — the school district announced top honors for reporting, photography and writing. Wausau Daily Herald
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ City council approved a $10M reconstruction project at The Waterside Building, between the Dudley Tower and Marathon County Public Library, with the city contributing $750,000 to revise parking requirements. Mayor Dough Diny said the project will create workforce housing and bring much-needed activity back to downtown. WAOW
