- ➤ Visit Wausau announced Jamie Rice-Heckendorf as its new Director of Operations & Integrator today. She brings operational leadership and community engagement experience (including system improvements and financial oversight) to support the mission of promoting the region as Wisconsin's Basecamp. - ➤ On March 31 the city honored community servant Sarah Ruffi by proclaiming Sarah Ruffi Day in honor of what would have been her 58th birthday; she served as a local attorney for over 20 years and her family said she died on Sunday. WSAW
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ American Idol alum Adin Boyer will perform a free concert at 6 p.m. April 13 at D.C. Everest Middle School in Weston to raise funds for the Autism Society of Central Wisconsin + he will also work with student musicians earlier that day. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ The Wisconsin Prairie Chicken Festival will run April 6-12 and offer bird tours, film screenings, and early morning prairie chicken viewings at Buena Vista, Paul J. Olson, and McMillan Memorial Library in Wisconsin Rapids, while local vendors & volunteers support the event. Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ Gas prices in Wisconsin averaged $3.62 a gallon on Tuesday as seasonal and global oil issues drove costs nearly a dollar higher over the past month; Wausau and nearby areas saw prices around $3.61 (northern regions experienced slightly higher rates). Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ The Children's Imaginarium in Wausau was awarded a $50K T-Mobile Hometown Grant to create a hands-on STEM lab for kids from kindergarten to fifth grade, set to serve up to 10,000 students annually.
