COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On April 23-24, community leaders will gather at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rib Mountain for the Healthy Communities Summit. The summit led by the Wisconsin Bike Federation and the Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation will focus on how outdoor recreation can improve health, local economies and quality of life.  Wausau Daily Herald

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Large tech companies are planning hyperscale data centers in Wisconsin with projects by Oracle & OpenAI raising concerns over high water and energy use; locals in Port Washington and neighboring areas worry that the boom could strain regional resources.  Wausau Daily Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Butternut School District referendum passed by one vote last night and will fund basic operations (student supplies, lighting, and heating) after a $500K funding reduction from previous tries; this marks the district's third attempt to secure needed funds.  WAOW
  • The school district sold the former Grant Elementary building. Grant School, LLC purchased the property for $555,000 on March 30, ending the consolidation process after the school closed in June 2025.  WSAW

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • The Wisconsin Beef Council has shared two steak salad recipes perfect for spring and summer, one with grilled top round steak, sugar snap peas and barley and another layered beef salad for local cooks to try in their own kitchens.  WSAW

  • Parker Retzlaff, a 22-year-old native from Rhinelander, has earned seven top-15 finishes in his first eight NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts races and is set to compete at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. as he pursues a playoff berth.  WSAW
