- ➤ Gas prices in the Midwest reached an average of $3.89 per gallon on Monday, up from $3.77 last week and 29% higher than a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration; rising spring demand + global oil tensions are spurring further increases. Wausau Daily Herald
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A new state law now allows Native American students statewide to wear traditional regalia at graduation to honor their heritage. Tribal and school leaders say this change empowers students to showcase cultural pride and supports learning about their traditions. WAOW
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Emergency responders are assessing damage in Juneau County after a tornado hit near Union Center Tuesday evening (heavy traffic is hindering access to the affected area). WAOW
- ➤ Officials in Shiocton and Manawa are asking volunteers at the fire hall to fill sandbags as rising water levels lead to street closures and school cancellations in Shiocton. Residents are advised to park on Main St. to help protect the water treatment plant in Manawa (safety steps advised). WSAW
- ➤ Severe Weather Awareness Week is underway in Wisconsin, educating residents about storm risks including winds of 58 mph or more & large hail along with heavy rain and lightning dangers. Officials advise waiting at least 30 minutes after the last thunder before returning outdoors. WSAW

- ➤ A free brain health presentation will be held Monday, Apr. 20 at the Marathon County Public Library's Wausau Headquarters from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. led by staff from the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) in the Community Room. Wausau Daily Herald
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Nine Wausau West High School seniors signed college sports letters on spring signing day Wednesday. The athletes, including volleyball standout Addy Vaughn and track star Maci Heise who plans to play at Upper Iowa (Division II), chose programs in football, soccer, hockey, softball and alpine skiing at various colleges.
