- ➤ During tornado cleanup, Ringle's town clerk Paula Zynda is collecting lost personal documents and photos found by residents to return them to their owners; items can be dropped off at the municipal center or post office on Tuesday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. WSAW
- ➤ Tammy Kirsch was honored today for her volunteer work with Junior Achievement (helping students in Marathon and Edgar schools connect classroom lessons to real-world skills) as part of a community recognition. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Goodwill NCW is offering $20,000 in vouchers + free financial guidance through its GoodNeighbor program for residents in Marathon, Waupaca and Outagamie counties affected by recent severe weather; residents can contact local emergency agencies for assistance. Wausau Daily Herald
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded early Monday at Pitstop Bar and Grill in Mosinee when smoke was spotted at 6:20 a.m and quickly contained a fire that started in an oven, causing minor damage; the bar reopened later Monday with a limited menu and no injuries were reported. WSAW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Riverside Elementary students will return to school on May 4 after being relocated from the Greenheck-Turner Community Center (GTCC) following a tornado; there is no school Friday as staff prepare classrooms, and families may visit the building Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. WSAW
- ➤ The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded a $250K grant to the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative to boost fresh vegetable use in schools and care centers, with Athens farms Red Door Family Farm and Cattail Organics supplying produce — plans call for a new food pantry to open early this summer. - ➤ Nelsonville resident Lisa Anderson is one of four Portage County awardees set to receive the MEA Environmental Justice Award for her work on safe drinking water after she found nitrate contamination affecting her community & the online ceremony will be held soon to heighten awareness. WAOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wausau city staff will host a public engagement session to gather input on redeveloping a 7-acre parcel on the west side; the meeting will be held Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wausau Waterworks Treatment Facility (430 Adrian St). WSAW

- ➤ D.C. Everest goalie Binne Braunger has chased her college soccer dream since she was 4 and earned Ivy League interest with her work on and off the field — she now leads the Evergreens as they host Marshfield today in pursuit of a fifth conference title. WSAW
- ➤ Softball players Sydney Spear & Claire Calmes will return to Wausau this summer to play for Ignite in the Northwoods League while serving as role models for young local players; they clinched a Big 10 Tournament spot to compete at Athletic Park next week. WSAW
