COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Cycling Without Age Marathon County begins its eighth season by offering free trishaw rides that will run from early June through Labor Day. The nonprofit is hosting pilot training (5-9 p.m.) on May 1 and May 29 in Wausau for interested volunteers. Wausau Times
- ➤ Residents can share input on the future of the 6.77-acre lot at 1300 Cleveland Ave at a public meeting on May 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Waterworks Treatment Facility at 430 Adrian St + the City will review survey results and development ideas. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Students from three local school districts are hosting a run and walk event on Sunday, May 3 at Stiehm Stadium (1000 Machmueller Street) to raise funds for tornado relief; registration proceeds will benefit the Community Foundation's Emergency Relief Fund. WAOW
- ➤ ACE Hardware in Weston and Midwest Communications of Wausau announced a $46,082.60 donation to support Ringle’s tornado relief fund from a cookout held April 23rd at the ACE parking lot — the event gathered food donations and free-will contributions to aid repair after the tornado damaged over 140 homes. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A new $6.6 million terminal for private and non-commercial aircraft is being built at Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee to replace a facility from 1971. Construction began on April 29 and is set to finish in December (largely funded by federal dollars from the Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act). Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ Manufacturing leaders, educators, and community partners gathered today at the Rothschild Expo Center for the CWIMA summit to address challenges like high taxes and education gaps that affect local industry; organizers also scheduled a June 18 golf outing (2026 Dollars 'Fore' Scholars) to raise scholarship funds. - ➤ Gas stations in the Wausau area now charge about $4.29 per gallon for unleaded gasoline, and experts say prices could reach $4.50 next week due to rising oil costs and refinery issues. The increase marks a steady climb from a year ago. WSAW

- ➤ Aspirus Wausau Hospital's Joy Team led a downtown cleanup effort on Earth Day using roughly 50 volunteers to clear litter and remove old holiday lighting from the 400 Block (organized with the Wausau River District). - ➤ Marathon County will begin reconstructing County Road X Monday and finish mid-June. Kronenwetter drivers should expect delays as crews recycle old asphalt into a new gravel base (maintaining access for local traffic only between Crystal View Drive and Pleasant Drive). WSAW

- ➤ Bone & Joint Clinic's Rib Mountain Surgery Center was named one of the top ambulatory surgery centers for orthopedics and spine by U.S. News & World Report early today. It is one of only six in Wisconsin recognized for its patient-centered care. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin is hosting a free Family Caregiver Resource Fair today from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lake View Conference Center on Lake View Drive in Wausau, with over 30 booths offering info on home care, hospice, transportation + meals. WSAW
