CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Grand Theater in Wausau will undergo major renovations over the next two years to celebrate its 100-year history and update its event space with new seats, paint, and carpet+ while preserving its historic look. The theater will shut its doors from May through November in 2026 and 2027 and aims to reopen by the end of 2027. WAOW

- ➤ Wausau Fire Department urged anglers to be careful this weekend as high water levels from recent storms make river conditions dangerous. Lieutenant Shane Woller recommended fishing with a partner (and letting someone know your plans) to help ensure help arrives quickly if needed. WSAW

- ➤ Tiara Bonilla, a recovery case manager at North Central Health Care, said normalized daily drinking may worsen alcohol addiction and spur drunk driving, as local data show high binge drinking rates in Marathon, Portage, and Waupaca counties along with early alcohol use by many residents. She warned that untreated alcohol use disorder alters brain function & increases risky behavior, stressing the need for effective treatment. WSAW
