- ➤ Federal funding cuts have hurt local nonprofits and United Way of Marathon County — which spent $1.6 million last year while receiving $4.4 million in funding requests for the next cycle. The group is asking residents to donate and volunteer to help support over 45 programs for more than 45,000 people struggling with housing and childcare costs. WSAW

- ➤ District attorneys reported that repeat drunk driving cases happen often; Portage County had 45 cases for a seventh to ninth offense, Marathon County had 113, and Brown County recorded the highest with 17 offenses in 2021—Over the Limit will examine judges' sentencing choices on May 14. WSAW
- ➤ Kronenwetter Police are searching for a person who removed all six new 45 mph speed limit signs from Maple Ridge Road last fall after the Village Board reduced the speed limit from 55 mph due to road hazards+ the suspect may face criminal charges and a hefty fine. WSAW
