- ➤ Rib Mountain is hosting the Happy Birthday America Word Search, a patriotic scavenger hunt for families running from May 4 through May 24 at Doepke Park — participants search local parks for letters to form a phrase; prizes will be awarded on May 28 at the village municipal center. WSAW
- ➤ Family Treasures Consignment shop celebrates 25 years of service in Wausau — a milestone that brings together regular consignors and new visitors exploring its treasure-filled rooms. Owner Michelle Barrone-Schneider established the shop to offer friendly exchanges and community connection. Wausau Times
- ➤ North Central Wisconsin Master Gardeners will hold their annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 16 from 7:00 a.m. to noon at Marathon Park Cattle Barn on Stewart Avenue. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wausau West High School's Publications Lab staff received eight national journalism awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for outstanding work in yearbook and magazine reporting; it marks the second consecutive year the school earned this honor. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Wausau East High School celebrated College Signing Day on April 29 when senior student-athletes officially committed to continue academics and sports, signing with colleges like UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point & UW-Oshkosh. Family, friends and coaches gathered to mark the event. Wausau Times
- ➤ Northcentral Technical College is set to integrate UWSP (University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point) on its campus by the end of August using shared classrooms and resources, further boosting local educational options. UWSP closes its campus doors this month and holds a farewell event today at 5 p.m. WSAW
- ➤ Arrow Academy held a ribbon cutting and open house today at its new Mosinee center that expands early autism support services from Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids. The child-friendly space provides play-based programs to help families access personalized resources. Wausau Times

- ➤ April inspections by the Marathon County Health Department showed that Sconni's Alehouse & Eatery in Schofield had 19 food safety violations, all corrected during a follow-up—other local restaurants faced one or two minor issues. Wausau Daily Herald
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Merrill paramedic Dylan Schielke received the first Golden Hour Award from Aspirus Wausau Hospital on May 8 for his life-saving response to an ATV crash near Pine River on July 2, 2025. He reunited with survivor Brian Brendemuehl at the ceremony for the first time since the accident. WAOW
