- ➤ DAR + American Legion Post No. 10 will hold a ceremony at 1 p.m. today at Pine Grove Cemetery to honor Wausau’s unknown soldier, a World War I veteran buried in 1930, as the community gathers to remember his service. WSAW
- ➤ Together Marathon County launched a Volunteer Hub today to connect volunteers with nonprofits through a digital platform. Soft-launched on April 1, the hub is free and now supports 36 organizations in Marathon County, boosting local volunteer engagement. WSAW
- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Wausau was awarded a $100K grant from Impact100 Greater Wausau to expand its Critical Home Repair Program across Marathon County by funding a Mobile Critical Home Repair Unit (a vehicle and essential tools) to help over 112 waiting families. WAOW
- ➤ Wausau Eagles 251 and Wausau Elks 248 will host a free Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, June 6 at D.C. Everest County Park from 10 a.m. to noon. Kids aged 3 to 16 must be with an adult and can bring a pole to receive prizes + a free hot dog lunch. WSAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Airport rescue and firefighters at Central Wisconsin Airport will conduct live fire training tomorrow between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the east end along Hwy 153 using a simulated aircraft fuselage — an FAA requirement that will not disrupt normal airport operations. WSAW
- ➤ Central Wisconsin Airport firefighters will conduct a live burn training exercise tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. near Highway 153 in Mosinee (as required by FAA standards). Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Greater Wausau Prosperity Partnership was awarded a $500,000 grant to launch the Marathon County Workforce Relocation and Retention Initiative as part of a statewide $5 million investment. Visit Wausau (partnering on outreach) will support marketing to attract talent in high-demand fields such as engineering and health care. WSAW
