- ➤ Residents attended a city engagement session at 1300 Cleveland Avenue to review survey results favoring a park, community center or entertainment venue & to address cleanup concerns; the city will upload the meeting video and request online feedback over the next 30 days. WSAW
- ➤ Haas and Sons are pouring 8,000 sqft of concrete as they update Marathon Park’s splash pad with new water features and a recirculating system. Marathon County Parks officials plan a soft opening around the Fourth of July weekend with a grand opening later in the summer. WSAW
- ➤ Apex Angels and Warriors has opened a new care area for its 38 wolf dogs and veterans to work together for healing. The rescue will host an open house on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring a food truck, bounce house, and raffle prizes. WSAW

- ➤ Wausau East High School senior Ayasha Bowman won first place in the 7th Congressional Art Competition and her artwork 'Apostle Islands' will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in June. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Families seeking affordable summer activities can explore Camp Sturtevant in Weston, which offers day camps for kids when parents work and many camps provide financial assistance (93% of camps reported aid) to help ensure a safe, screen-free summer outdoors. Camp spots are booking fast as the school year ends. WAOW

- ➤ A severe hailstorm damaged roofs and dented vehicles across Central Wisconsin Wednesday night. Homeowners are urged to inspect properties and contact their insurance companies, as experts warn that minor damage may worsen next spring (especially in Rib Mountain). WAOW

- ➤ The Marathon County Job Center moves to a permanent location on the second floor of 11 Scott St. (Suite 200) effective June 1 in Wausau; it will continue offering job search assistance, resume writing support and career counseling along with partner agencies after leaving 731 N. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A local event planner is set to host Wausau’s first public silent disco on Saturday, May 30, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Infused (180 E Wausau Ave) to benefit the Northwoods chapter of NAMI with all proceeds supporting mental health resources. WSAW

- ➤ Baseball season returned to Athletic Park today as the Woodchucks hosted their home opener with activities for all ages and local food offerings (brats, ice cream, and soda) following a record 20-game winning streak. WSAW
