CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Wausau woman (38-year-old Kandise Sheahen) was found guilty by a jury of felony neglect causing death of her grandmother after a three-day trial that ended at 1:00 p.m. on Friday; she now faces up to 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines with a sentencing conference set for June 10th. WAOW

- ➤ June Dairy Month is coming and several dairy breakfasts are planned around north central Wisconsin to honor our local dairy industry—events offer foods like pancakes, sausage, eggs and cheese curds with prices ranging from $5 to $10 between June 8 and June 29. WAOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Tony Evers signed a $6.1M contract to upgrade WIS 29 westbound from the Clark County Line to County Highway E South. Crews will start work on June 4 to repair pavement, ramps, and guardrails—traffic will shift to eastbound lanes with temporary ramp closures until work finishes by October 17. WAOW
- ➤ Wood County Circuit Judge Todd Wolf will retire on July 11 — Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers is seeking a replacement to serve the rest of Wolf’s term until July 31, 2026. Applicants must submit their materials by 5 p.m. on June 11. Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ Andy Nevitt of Wausau broke the speed record for paddling the Wisconsin River by finishing the course in 3 days, 20 hours and 45 minutes while beating the old mark by 5 hours and 37 minutes. He paddled from near Land O’ Lakes to Prairie du Chien and portaged around 26 dams with only about 4 hours of sleep—his record now awaits official confirmation. WSAW
