- ➤ Today, volunteers from Peyton’s Promise will collect pop tabs on the 400 Block beginning at 4 p.m. plus a concert starts at 6 p.m. so recycled funds can help the Ronald McDonald House in honor of Sophia Van Ermen, whose family began the effort after she died while waiting for an organ transplant. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire in the Village of Hatley injured two women when responders rescued a 57-year-old who suffered life-threatening injuries from a home on the 200 block of Kirkwood Street early Tuesday morning — a 67-year-old with burns was also treated and investigators are looking into the cause. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Aspirus Wausau Hospital completed its emergency department expansion last Tuesday with eight new patient rooms added to the previous 18, increasing total capacity to 30 treatment spaces + the project started in 2022 to meet rising emergency needs. WSAW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Racers at Golden Sands Speedway in Wisconsin Rapids will race on Friday to honor Zach Budleski, a 19-year-old who died by suicide last fall—his mother said the event is meant to raise mental health awareness and features a $555 first-place prize. WAOW
