- ➤ Henry Hinojo, a local boy, will hold a lemonade stand in his driveway to honor his best friend Malcolm who lost his battle with cancer in 2022—his family aims to raise $500 for childhood cancer research. Neighbors are encouraged to support the fundraiser as a tribute and a way to help others fight the disease. WAOW
- ➤ The Man of Honor Society hosts a veterans fundraiser at Wausau Eagles Club at D.C. Everest Park to offer temporary help for older veterans without creating long-term dependency. The event started Friday at 11 a.m. and runs through Sunday — it includes a prize raffle with grand prizes such as a Jeep Latitude, a Harley Street-Glider, a zero-turn lawnmower, and a Honda, and today an honor ride is available with sign-ups at The Kelly Club in Weston. - ➤ Chalkfest will return to the 400 Block on June 28-29 with chalk art competitions for ages 12 and up, a children’s event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., live music and food vendors—reviving a tradition since 2004. - ➤ Wausau PD said drivers must be more cautious after a Friday afternoon downtown crash captured on dash cam and traffic cameras when a gray minivan ran a red light and hit a sedan + struck a pedestrian, though no one was seriously hurt. WSAW

- ➤ Downtown Wausau construction is ahead of schedule as parts of Washington Street reopened last week and the section between Fourth and Third Streets will open June 28 — chief engineer Allen Wesolowski said the main pavement was completed ahead of the planned end-of-June timeline. When finished, Washington Street will allow two-way traffic with parking on both sides. WSAW
- ➤ The Wisconsin Elections Commission mailed postcards on June 13 to registered voters who had not voted in four years to update their records—voters must reply by July 15 to avoid deactivation.
