- ➤ Breanna Jerde of Maple Ridge Ranch in Mosinee runs an equine therapy center that uses electro—equine therapy to help heal injured horses and riders. She plans summer barrel racing events and is aiming to grow attendance from 300 to 400 competitors while using the therapy that helped her 14-year-old horse recover. WSAW
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Interstate 39 southbound is closed near Plover due to an accident around 3:30 a.m. that has crews working to clear the scene as traffic is rerouted via Plover Road, County Highway R, and Highway 54 — a heat advisory is in effect from noon today to 7 p.m. with heat index values expected to reach between 95 and 105. - ➤ Local organizations held a dairy learning event at the Children's Imaginarium in downtown Wausau during Dairy Month. Kids made homemade butter and ice cream, played dairy trivia, sampled cheese curds and met Paislee the cow while organizers explained how these activities teach STEM concepts. WAOW

- ➤ Local officials warned that heat indexes will reach triple digits this weekend with mid-90s temperatures that can cause heat exhaustion, sunburn, and heat stroke. They advise residents to use air conditioning, swim, or take water breaks — steps aimed at preventing dangerous heat illnesses. WSAW
