Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 18th of July.
Good morning, Wausau.
The Neighbors’ Place now has new market hours—its Nite Market is open on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.—to help local residents buy essentials like food and baby formula.
The extra hours took six months to plan and can serve over 100 local families.
On July 16th, an SUV lost control on State Highway 97 in Frankfort and crashed into a creek at 4:38 p.m.—a 10-month-old boy died and four others were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Wausau police remind riders that all three classes of e-bikes, along with electric scooters and similar devices, may use roads, bike lanes, and most shared-use paths but are not allowed on sidewalks unless signs permit.
They add that only class 1 e-bikes may operate in city parks — riders must yield to pedestrians and follow a 15 mph limit in park areas.
A new pickleball complex opened in Plover at Lake Pacawa Park after years of planning—built with a $500,000 donation from the Sentry Foundation and featuring 12 fully wheelchair-accessible courts, the facility now draws players from Marshfield and Wausau.
A free beginner class will take place Saturday, July 26 for those interested in the sport.
