- ➤ A Wausau family built a TARDIS little free library on Steuben Street that holds books and small gifts like dog treats—designed to share their love of Doctor Who with the neighborhood. They spent a year building it after buying their home five years ago—inviting neighbors to borrow a book or enjoy a surprise. WSAW
- ➤ Wausau police and fire departments will host a Community Thank You Cookout on August 12 at the 400 Block where free hot dogs and brats will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—the event will feature emergency vehicle displays, police K9 meet and greets and chances to speak with public safety staff. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The D.C. Everest School District uses six robotic mowers at its middle school that mow the grass non-stop and cost much less than gas-powered models—each cuts 1/16th inch of grass every day using GPS control from the soccer field press box. The district also runs a robotic floor cleaner at the Greenheck Turner Community Center that stops when it senses people so staff can work on other tasks. WSAW

- ➤ State troopers joined semi-truck drivers in Wausau as part of the Trooper in a Truck campaign to learn about the challenges of distracted driving. The statewide effort, now in its fourth year with Wausau as the final stop, lets truck drivers like Greg Magsam explain how phone use and blind spots create serious safety risks—troopers say the ride-along helps them spot dangerous driving.
