- ➤ Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman visited Wausau today with school district leaders to discuss the Direct Admit Program that has given nearly 34,000 high school seniors from 467 schools a clear path to college—an effort to reduce uncertainty in the application process. WAOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Rep. Calvin Callahan and lawmakers from Iowa, Minnesota and North Dakota filed a formal complaint with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and the IJC over wildfire smoke drifting from Canada that has harmed Midwest air quality — they are calling for air quality assessments and an investigation into Canada’s wildfire management practices with a response requested within 30 days. - ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Transportation designated August as school bus safety month and state patrol inspector Robert Bliven urged Wausau drivers to slow and avoid distracted driving near school buses—especially since many children walk to school.
