- ➤ The Hodag Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing is forming a new sister chapter in Wausau to provide fishing and boating trips for seniors, veterans, disabled individuals, and youth on weekdays from mid-May to mid-September. An informational meeting will be held Monday, August 18 at Marathon County Public Library in downtown Wausau from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. WSAW
- ➤ Yesterday, Wausau police and fire departments hosted their annual Community Thank You Cookout on the 400 Block where community members enjoyed free hot dogs and brats, viewed demos, and met first responders—all part of a tradition that started in 2016. WSAW

- ➤ Today, the Wisconsin DMV launched a new webpage to help protect consumers from scams where impostors demand money or personal information — the page shows images of recent scam attempts and offers tips on staying safe. WSAW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Marathon County Health Department said seven to ten people have been tested for measles so far, even though there are no confirmed cases here while nine cases have been confirmed in Oconto County. The department is watching wastewater in Spencer, Wausau and Marshfield—this testing every two and a half weeks will help spot early signs of an outbreak. WSAW
- ➤ The Wausau Community Blood Center said its supply of TypeO blood dropped to critical levels after four recent traumas in the Fox Valley area and more than 60 people donated on August 12. Executive director Emily Jolin said one donation can save one to three lives + the rewards program shows thanks to new donors. WSAW
