  • Schofield’s Cross Church held its annual Haircuts for Hope event to give kids free haircuts before school begins—volunteer barber Jerry Jones encouraged them to earn good grades as a promise for their cut. The church plans to host more similar events in the future.  WSAW

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In July, Marathon County home listings had a median price of $383,262, which is 3.3% higher than in June and 11.1% higher than last July — homes stayed on market for a median 37 days. In the nearby Wausau-Weston metro area, listings reached a median price of $386,896.  Wausau Daily Herald

  • Packers linebacker Kristian Welch — an Iola native with strong preseason stats — played today in a 20 to 7 win over the Seahawks and recorded 5 sacks and 4 turnovers; he will await the final roster decision on Tuesday.  WSAW
