- ➤ The Marathon County Historical Society broke ground on a new three-story archive center at North 3rd Street in Wausau to expand storage and help people learn local history—modern climate controls and community spaces will preserve records and artifacts. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ High school students from low-income families can apply online at the state Department of Transportation for a grant covering 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of observation and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training — funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. More than 10,000 students have received support since the program started in September 2024 — state officials say the new budget will provide $6 million yearly to help reduce reckless driving. - ➤ Students will use more AI tools in the classroom this fall as school districts will train teachers on AI + a nationwide study shows 74% of districts plan training compared to 48% last year. Major companies like Microsoft have also announced plans to help teachers prepare for AI integration. WSAW
- ➤ Mid-State Technical College and Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools will launch the Business Management Academy in fall 2026 to let high school students earn college credits—beginning with Lincoln High School's embedded stacked credentials and leading to a four-year associate degree by graduation.
