ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 42-year-old man from Rosholt drowned on August 26 while kayaking on Lake Helen as emergency responders arrived but were unable to revive him — authorities confirmed no foul play was suspected. WAOW

- ➤ Wausau woman Kandise Sheahen was sentenced on Aug. 27 to nine months in jail for negligently refusing proper care for her 80-year-old grandmother, who died of diabetic ketoacidosis — she was also given six years of probation with conditions like a mental health assessment and a ban on using social media to promote health products. - ➤ Travelers planning to drive over the Labor Day holiday can expect to pay about $3 per gallon for unleaded as statewide prices dropped from $3.22 last year, with some western counties offering rates as low as $2.80.
