- ➤ A 42-year-old man from Rosholt drowned on August 26 while kayaking on Lake Helen as emergency responders arrived but were unable to revive him — authorities confirmed no foul play was suspected. WAOW

- ➤ Travelers planning to drive over the Labor Day holiday can expect to pay about $3 per gallon for unleaded as statewide prices dropped from $3.22 last year, with some western counties offering rates as low as $2.80.
