Six community organizations will host the Backpack Bash Block Party on Tuesday, September 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Thrive Church parking lot (400 Grand Ave) to offer free backpacks, school supplies, and family activities so local students and families can prepare for the new school year.

Today, Marathon hosts the nearly 70-year Marathon Fun Days festival with live music, carnival rides and a parade during Labor Day weekend.

The carnival opens at 6 p.m. and Knock Point will perform at 8 p.m.—wristbands will be sold for rides while admission remains free.
