- ➤ Former therapist Aaron A. Mielke Sr. pleaded no contest on Sept. 3 for inappropriate sexual contact with a client and will serve six months in Marathon County Jail—he lost his counseling licenses and will be on the sex offender registry for 15 years. Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ Tickets for the Marshall Tucker Band concert go on sale Friday in Wausau— the band will perform live at the Grand Theater on March 12, 2026, playing songs like Can't You See, Heard It in a Love Song, and Fire on the Mountain. - ➤ The Senate moved Bradyn's Law forward after a public hearing on Sept. 3 that would make sextortion a standalone crime with stronger penalties—including up to a Class B felony charge when it causes death—pushed by the testimony of Brittney Bird after her 15-year-old son took his own life following online blackmail. - ➤ Wausau city clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde was awarded the inaugural Rising Star Award Aug. 21 in La Crosse for updating office technology and boosting community engagement—recognized for her effective changes—while also serving on a statewide committee that organizes local clerk meetings. - ➤ The city of Wausau is seeking public input on plans to extend the River Edge Parkway from Adolph Street to D.C. Everest Park—its new on-street segment will be marked with signage instead of built construction. - ➤ Wood, Marathon, Portage, Winnebago and Jefferson counties may soon allow hunters to harvest white (leucistic) deer after the DNR said the rules for what makes a white deer are confusing. Officials explained that deer with brown on their head, neck, or tarsals will remain illegal to hunt while extra white deer could harm forests and farms. WSAW
