- ➤ Gov. Evers declared September 8 as 988 Day to honor the crisis line that answered a quarter million calls in Wisconsin over three years—Wausau marked the occasion with a pop-up event on the 400 block. WSAW
- ➤ Wood County health officials reported the first human case of West Nile virus this year and advised residents to use insect repellent — they also recommended removing standing water to stop mosquito breeding.
