CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, the 44th Annual Fall Ride is in full swing in Tomahawk as it brings together riders from across the Northwoods for a four-day event with Harley Davidson demos, live music and a Thunder Parade that featured 700 bikes last year — the event has grown from 21 riders in 1982 to now benefit local businesses with thousands of visitors.  WAOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • D.C. Everest School District has installed a new video board+ audio system at Stiehm Stadium for upcoming Friday night games, which will give students a chance to learn digital skills and help run the system during live events. Donors, including 11 community partners and a $75,000 check, have supported the upgrade ahead of the game against Wausau West.  WSAW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Surgical Associates announced that Jeremy Mlakar has been promoted to chief operating officer—after serving six years as director in the vascular division—and will now lead daily operations and strategic initiatives for Surgical Associates and its affiliate Elevé Vitality and Aesthetics.  Wausau Daily Herald
  • Chloe Munguia, a sophomore at DC Everest, started Resilience in Action to help local teens talk about mental health as school resumes; she will distribute resilience kits to teen centers and schools—local experts say her peer-led approach may encourage more students to get help— as awareness grows in our community.  WAOW
