- ➤ Dozens of local veterans will join Mission 53 of the Never Forgotten Honor Flight for a trip to Washington DC, with 99 veterans scheduled to travel while organizers urge other eligible veterans to sign up. Mike Thompson said care and support are provided on the buses and airplanes—ensuring the journey is safe and memorable for all. WAOW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra now leads the Very Young Composers program for 4th and 5th graders in Stevens Point; the two‐week program will run from January 5th to 18th with virtual classes and a live performance at UWSP Noel Fine Arts Center on January 18th—applications open October 1st until November 14th with a $35 fee and only 30 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State data show that while Wisconsin’s population grew by about 2% since 2020, many central towns lost people, with Jackson losing 13% and La Valle still hurt by a big flood in 2018. Preliminary numbers show that Lannon grew 62% because of new homes—findings released by the Wisconsin Department of Administration. Wausau Daily Herald
- ➤ Wisconsin Public Service is upgrading and replacing out-of-date natural gas lines in Wausau to ensure safe and reliable service for homes and businesses; the utility asks residents to give workers space and to call if brief outages affect them — the work will continue in stages. WSAW

- ➤ Aspirus Wausau Robot Committee invites the community to explore robotic surgery at the free Surgery Robotic Community Day on September 20 at the Hilton Garden Inn Van Acres Conference Room where doors open at 12 p.m. and talks by Dr. John Johnkoski and Dr. Amanda Eilers begin at 12:30 p.m.—each 20-minute presentation will include a Q&A session and lunch is provided.
