- ➤ Paul Voight, a volunteer from Marshfield, is flying from Central Wisconsin Airport to help build shelters in Anchorage as typhoon relief efforts continue after Typhoon Halong. His 25th deployment will last two to three weeks—he is part of the Red Cross team helping evacuees rebuild their lives. WAOW
- ➤ The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin has launched the Women’s Fund for Marathon County to help nonprofits that offer leadership, safety, childcare, and economic stability for women and girls—so far they have raised $420,000 and will continue to seek support to reach an endowment goal of just over $1 million. - ➤ The Red Cross is sending hundreds of volunteers to Alaska after flooding from Typhoon Halong, and Paul Voigt of Marshfield is flying out from Central Wisconsin Airport for his 25th deployment. He will work for two weeks at a relief base to help feed up to 4,000 people daily—more volunteers are still needed for ongoing relief efforts. WSAW

- ➤ Ghost tours returned on Friday and are happening today as visitors explore downtown Wausau’s paranormal history. The 90-minute tour starts at the Wausau Elks Lodge #248 and includes character reenactments at sites—tickets cost $10 with proceeds supporting local charities. WSAW
- ➤ Improv comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood will perform their unscripted show—Asking for Trouble—at The Grand Theater on October 23. The family-friendly show will let the audience shape the jokes and games, and tickets remain available. WSAW

- ➤ Work on Hwy 29 west of Wausau is set to finish by late October, the Wisconsin DOT said Friday—crews will complete a section from Purple Martin Rd to the Little Rib River by October 27 and finish a second stretch from Cty Hwy E to the Clark County line by October 31.
