Good morning, Wausau. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 28th of October.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nearly 100 veterans departed Mosinee Monday morning on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.—they are set to visit memorials honoring World War II, Korea, and Vietnam after a pre-flight dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn. The flight is named for Arthur B. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Wausau opened a new trail at its business campus that links Sunny Vale Park with trails at 72nd Avenue—providing a safer route for walkers and workers. The project started during the pandemic but was delayed until a 2024 DOT funding match revived the plan.  WAOW
  • Wisconsin FoodShare recipients can use remaining funds on their QUEST card to buy food throughout November after an Oct. 25 announcement from the Department of Health Services—this revised guidance contradicts an earlier memo urging users to stock up before the end of October. Details on additional changes will follow as officials monitor the impact of federal funding issues.  Wausau Daily Herald
