COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Two Girl Scouts are leading a project to provide SafeAwake Bed Shaker alarms to 26 hard-of-hearing students in the Wausau School District by Dec. 1. ENT and Allergy Associates and the Wausau Firefighters’ Community Assistance Foundation donated $2,000 to support the project—donations can be made at Horace Mann Middle School and the Wausau Fire Department Central Location. - ➤ Rondele Ranch announced its annual Christmas Wonderland light show that will showcase over one million handmade lights in Harshaw. Guests can walk through on Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 28 to Dec. 27 between 5-9 p.m. or drive through on Sundays and Tuesdays from Dec. 7 to Dec. 30 between 5-8 p.m.; tickets cost $25 per car (cash only) and funds will support local non-profits. - ➤ Impact100 Greater Wausau, led by women, has awarded a $100,000 grant to a Marathon County non-profit each year for the past five years—nonprofits meeting 501c3 criteria can apply now until January 21. The organization held an information session at Northcentral Technical College and will announce winners along with Merit Grant recipients at its fifth Annual Awards Celebration in May. WSAW
- ➤ The Green Bay Packers donated 60 pounds of winter clothing to Open Door, a local nonprofit that supports the homeless and individuals released from incarceration in Wausau. A volunteer's inquiry about size 18 shoes spurred the donation + the support will benefit more than 300 people each year. WAOW
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Rondele Ranch will host its annual Christmas Wonderland from November 28 to December 30 with over one million lights that support local non-profit groups. Visitors can walk through the display on Fridays and Saturdays or drive on select evenings+ they may meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. WAOW
- ➤ The Wausau Hmong New Year celebration returns this weekend, from November 8th to November 9th at the Central Wisconsin Convention Expo Center in Rothschild — marking 50 years since Hmong families first arrived in America. Organizers will offer traditional food, colorful clothing, and music — and they plan an opening ceremony to honor veterans and share heritage with all attendees. WAOW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students and families from Red Granite Charter School gathered at the Wausau School Forest for the Martinmas lantern walk — a festival where they made homemade lanterns to light the trail and honor a cherished school tradition during shorter winter days. WSAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin DNR reminded hunters to use tree straps when climbing into tree stands and update their equipment to help prevent injuries during deer season. Aspirus also advised hunters to have a safety plan with someone aware of their location and to keep their phone charged for texting if calls fail. WSAW
- ➤ Local authorities announced that starting Monday, November 10, both soundbound lanes of Grand Avenue at Thomas Street will be closed, forcing southbound drivers to use a detour via Thomas Street, Prospect Avenue and Townline Road while northbound traffic is reduced to one lane between Floral Lane and Thomas Street. The lane closures will last until Thursday, November 13. WSAW

- ➤ Newman and Rib Lake swept their semifinal opponents on Thursday, setting up a D5 state volleyball championship match on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.—Newman seeks its fifth state title while Rib Lake showed strong team play during its win. WSAW
