EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released the 2024-25 school and district report cards — the cards show star ratings from one for Fails to Meet Expectations to five for Significantly Exceeds Expectations and note that 94% of public school districts and 85% of schools met or exceeded expectations after education leaders approved new benchmarks by a 25-1 vote. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Traffic has reopened on Schofield Avenue in Weston along the more than 1-mile stretch from Normandy Street to Birch Street — the project began in April and included repaving, upgraded pedestrian signals, and water plus sewer work — with only pavement markings remaining. WSAW
- ➤ The Wausau Fire Department completed a live fire training by burning a house donated by Kolbe and Kolbe Millwork Co. — 30 firefighters practiced entering, locating and extinguishing fires in every room — to hone their emergency response skills. WSAW
