- ➤ A federal spending bill now limits hemp products to 0.4 mg THC per container, a change that could force many local businesses to cut nearly all THC offerings. Wausau’s Forward Beverage Company (opened in 2023) said they are testing new recipes (if the rule takes effect next year) as negotiations continue for state hemp regulation. WSAW

- ➤ Central Wisconsin teens won top prizes at the National FFA Convention and Expo. Marshall Kleiman won the Dairy Production Entrepreneurship Award while Hannah Oleson earned the Beef Production Placement Award and Ava Nicole Medo received the Goat Production Entrepreneurship and Placement Award. - ➤ Faculty and staff at NTC integrated AI into classroom learning and campus operations (including the campus restaurant, cosmetology classrooms, and farm animal care) when they presented at the national education conference in Nashville on October 28. Their presentation, seen by nearly 3,000 attendees, highlighted how the college quickly embraced AI to boost teaching and practical applications. WAOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The southbound lane on Grand Avenue reopened for one lane of travel Friday morning, but both lanes from Townline Rd.—Thomas St. remain closed until Thursday. Northbound traffic continues to use only one lane from Floral Ln.—Thomas St. WSAW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Jason Wyland, a flight nurse with Aspirus MedEvac, was named the 2025 National Paramedic of the Year for his 28 years of EMS service. He was recognized at the EMS World Expo on Oct. 22 in Indianapolis — his award honors his leadership and care for patients. Wausau Daily Herald
