- ➤ The city of Wausau finished years of downtown changes, adding new shops, apartments, and wider streets to help people find parking and shop easily—city leaders are also putting up Christmas decorations to draw more visitors. Whimsy and Wonder Toys, at the corner of 4th and Washington, hosted a Santa meet-and-greet on November 21 and will hold a free gift wrapping event next Saturday to offer holiday cheer. WSAW
- ➤ The Aspirus Health Foundation will host the 28th Annual Festival of Trees from November 26 to November 30 at the Central WI Convention + EXPO Center in Rothschild, supporting comfort care, hospice services, and the Aspirus Family House. Visitors will bid on over 200 holiday trees and decor while enjoying local music and special events like the Opening Night Gala and Teddy Bear Blast. WAOW
- ➤ Wausau special education teacher Rob Hughes led the Food for Hope turkey drive that raised $23,000 and distributed 1,300 hams and turkeys to school children and families in Wausau and nearby areas. Donations directly funded the purchase to support local neighbors. WSAW
- ➤ Tomahawk is marking its 60th annual venison feed as over 1,000 people gather every Friday on West Wisconsin Ave to eat burgers before the nine-day gun-deer season begins. Local businesses grill venison burgers from Geiss Meats to help hunters prepare—continuing a long-held tradition. WSAW
- ➤ This weekend, Wisconsin hosted seven major events including Wild Lights at Milwaukee County Zoo and the Festival of Trees at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay on November 21st, along with 'The Book of Mormon' in Appleton and Rotary Winter Wonderland lighting up Wildwood Zoo in Marshfield, while Cirque Musica Holiday is playing today at the Grand Theater in Wausau. - ➤ Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation’s Marketbasket survey finds that this year’s Thanksgiving meal for 10 will cost $61.84 due to weather woes, bird flu—raising turkey prices—and higher labor costs. The survey shows a 16-pound turkey will cost $27.84 while farmers work to rebuild turkey flocks impacted by bird flu. Wausau Daily Herald

- ➤ Gun deer season begins today as thousands of hunters head into the woods for a nine-day period through Nov. 30, and sheriff Mike Lukas warns that trespassing remains a top concern—he urges hunters to verify property boundaries, identify targets correctly, and follow designated hunting hours. Harvested deer must be registered by 5 p.m. the day after recovery to comply with state law. WSAW
- ➤ Sen. Tammy Baldwin visited the Bridge Community Health Clinic in Wausau on Friday as part of her statewide tour on health care. She urged the Senate to extend ACA premium tax credits set to expire on December 31 while local residents Dawn Lass and Julia Jiannacopoulos expressed concerns about rising health care costs. WAOW
